Adele Album - Rolling the Deep
This song is on heavy rotation on my iPod. Love, love Adele. This is how you write a breakup song, Taylor Swift. No sugar coating or mistaking the anger and pain in this song. GO, Adele, GO!!
This song/album is an amazing sophomore effort. This is how you write a second album. Strong, solid vocals that harken back to the old school soul singers, with the showmanship of the ladies of Motown (The Supremes, Gladys Knight). If Adele doesn't sweep at the Grammy's next year, I don't know what to think about the music industry. She's the best singer/songwriter out there and guess what? She's going to be around a long time. In 50 years, we'll still be playing her tunes, like Aretha, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, the greats!!!

Adele is the latest graduate from the BRIT School for performing arts
in London, which has so far spawned successful singers such as Amy
Winehouse, Leona Lewis and Kate Nash. After Winehouse’s huge success,
Adele was fast-tracked to the charts thanks to her similar
soul-influenced sound.
London-born Adele Adkins was singing and
writing songs from a young age, making her an ideal applicant for the
BRIT School. Thanks to the international success of Amy Winehouse in
2007, similar singers such as Adele and Duffy were soon sought by record
labels, leading to Adele earning a contract with XL. Her first single,
“Hometown Glory”, reached the Top 40, but her profile earned a massive
boost when a BBC-run critics poll to find the stars of 2008 put Adele at
the top. She also won a BRIT Award that was specially created to
recognise up-and-coming stars. Subsequently, her second single “Chasing
Pavements” reached No.2 on the UK charts, and her debut album 19 reached No.1.
Artist
In 2009, the British singer-songwriter-performer Adele took home a
pair of Grammy Awards--including Best New Artist--for 19, a highly
acclaimed debut album of songs which introduced a new and authentic
young voice to the world, expressing the bittersweet turbulence of
adolescence awakening into adulthood.
With 21, one of 2011's most
anticipated releases, Adele comes of age with her second album, a
collection of deeply personal songs, finely wrought and powerfully
delivered, which communicate the power and glory of real love and real
heartbreak through a range of musical moods and settings.

Adele is a breath of fresh air
I found Adele about year ago on Myspace. I was instantly taken with the single Best for Last. I searched online for the CD because I had to here more from the person who posessed this voice I can only describe as "chunky butter"; unexpected and smooth. I absolutely couldn't find her anywhere not even in the record stores. I waited patiently because I knew she would not get away in the age when her type of music is such a breath of fresh air. I've had the CD in my hands for 3 days now and it's been all I expected.
I can't stop listening to it. I still enjoy Best for Last but I seem to repeat Chasing Pavement, Make You Feel My Love which was one of my faves from Garth Brooks. But, I'd have to say Melt My Heart to Stone and Right as Rain are my favorites and touch me personally. I haven't listened to a CD this much since Corrine Bailey Rae. I didn't think to compare Adele to Amy Winehouse until I read a comment here. Although I understand the comparison there is something in Adele's voice that is so well rounded. Her voice reminds me of Sunday afternoon; patient, comfortable, strong but peaceful and not tormented. Her voice makes you want to play her in the background when you're entertaining friends or someone special for the evening. It's nice to see there are at least 12 songs in this world that maintain class, heart and beauty. I can't wait to hear more from Adele.
Adele's 19 was strong. 21 is simply timeless
In the past two years, Adele has refined and reinvented her unique sound
that always puts her aching yet powerful vocals and lyrics at the
forefront. These are songs that could have been released in the 60s as
easily as 30 years from now. Adele has injected her trademark piano
ballads with the best from several different musical genres including
Americana roots and country, r&b, blues and gospel. The music is
exciting and simply is. It lives, breathes.
There are a few tracks towards the middle that are remarkable only because Adele sings them-- and while they aren't quite filler, they aren't as memorable as standout tracks like "Rolling in the Deep," "Set Fire to the Rain," "Someone Like You," and "Turning Tables." Adele set the bar so high with these songs that anything else short of magic, is sort of a letdown. However, as a whole--this album so involves you that you can feel these stories as your own.
I played a couple songs for my mom, who at forty years older than I, generally criticizes my music taste, and the first thing she said was "Wow, this girl really knows how to write a story--those songs are beautiful."
